The Torrance Scout Center, built by the Torrance Junior Women’s Club and Civitans, International, is available for the exclusive use of Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops from Torrance and neighboring areas. Not actually affiliated with either group, the Scout Center is owned by the City of Torrance and is leased to the Torrance Scout Board, Inc., a non-profit organization. The operation of the Scout Center is funded completely by donations and many events and meetings are held there (such as the annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser). Use of the center is basically free with the exception of key deposits and non-refundable cleaning costs.
The different rooms in the Scout Center include a large dining hall with a fireplace, a kitchen, two meeting rooms, an office that is used by the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles, and, girls' and boys' bathrooms. There is also open space outside complete with picnic tables. |
